Woman, 53, arrested after two people found dead at the same address six hours apart

A woman has been arrested after two bodies were discovered at a property within just six hours.

Police in Portsmouth, Hampshire, following reports of the sudden death of a man in his 50s.

Then, at 4.20pm on the same day, they returned to the address out of concern for a woman in her 60s.

A 53-year-old woman from Portsmouth has been arrested on suspicion of supplying a controlled Class A drug, the force confirmed.

Hampshire Police say they were at Estella Road in Buckland on Wednesday 2 November, after reports of the sudden death of a man.

In a statement, Hampshire Constabulary told the Mirror: “We have now arrested a woman in connection with the deaths of two people at an address on Estella Road.

“A 53-year-old woman from Portsmouth has been arrested on suspicion of supplying a controlled drug of Class A. She has been released from police custody but remains under investigation while our enquiries continue.

“The arrest comes after we were called at 10.42am on Wednesday (2 November) to a report of the sudden death of a man in his 50s at a property on Estella Road.

“Police returned to the address at 4.20pm following concerns for the welfare of a man in his 60s on Centaur Street.

“We assisted the man to a property on Estella Road, which is when officers discovered a body of a woman in her 60s.

“Our enquiries into the circumstances of this incident are ongoing.

“We are not linking this investigation to any others at the current time, nor have we been made aware by our partners within the NHS and ambulance service of any incidents that could be connected.”

The spokeswoman said that the deaths are being treated as unexplained and an investigation has started.

The woman has been released from police custody but remains under investigation while enquiries continue.
